Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Insurance agents and structural engineers are still trying to determine if a building in downtown Fergus Falls needs to be torn down, after a fire ripped through it last week.

One firefighter was injured, 5 businesses were damaged, and 5 families were displaced.

The fire was caused by an electrical issue. A contractor has finished securing the walls and roof. Renters and business owners have not yet been able to go in to salvage any belongings.

Mark Hovland- Fergus Falls Fire Chief: "Pretty much the renters they lost everything that's up there, they might be able to go through and salvage a few little knick knacks, but between water damage and the fire damage that was up there it's pretty well history."

It's not known yet when residents and business owners will be allowed back in the building.
