Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV)-- Meantime, dozens of planes were swooping over head during the carnival today.

It's part of the annual "fly-in."

More than 40 airplanes were showcased at the airport. Members of the experimental aircrafts association say they're stressing that the hobby isn't just for people with money. But for those of all ages.

Dennis Jacobs- Experimental Aircraft Association: "I remember when I was a kid. Four, five, six seven, I just fell in love with airplanes. And I later on became an aero space engineer and just because of that dream. And a lot of the experimental aircraft association does around here is try to get kids interested in aviation."

Most of the planes are homemade, costing about 15,000 dollars.
