Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A Fargo 3rd grader is taking her story writing and illustrating to a national level.

Caleigh Gabriel beat out other 3rd graders from around the country with her story Prima Duckerina.

She won first place in the PBS Kids Go Writers Contest. The contest is to get students interested in storytelling, drawing, and being creative. Caleigh tells us her inspiration for the story.

Caleigh Gabriel- Fargo: "Well for one reason I like ducks and I also love ballet, so I thought it should be a story about a duck that wanted to be a ballerina."

Caleigh won an I-Pad mini as a prize. She is the daughter of WDAY's own Christopher Gabriel.
