Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- If you're planning a summer roadtrip you may be trying to line up all the "must-see attractions" when you get there.

Setting up your itinerary just go a lot easier and a lot more creative, because, there's an app for that.

Whether you're on a road-trip across the country or exploring closer to home, the field trip app can change the way you see the world around you.

The location based app is pegged as a guide to cool, hidden and unique things. It features museums, restaurants, historical attractions, architecture, entertainment, and that's only the beginning.

It's like having an insider show you all the cool stuff you're close to without having to google it - Fieldtrip automatically searches for you - and when it finds a nearby fact, photo, offer or deal your phone alerts you.

You can also see on the map "hits" of good fieldtrip finds. You can set up the app to explore or limit it to show only the cool stuff that is really close by.

Fieldtrip pulls its information from a number of sources and you can go in and check and uncheck the sources you like and don't, customizing what you see.

The app seems kind of geared toward historical information but there is definitely something for everyone.

We found no "hits" in the metro. But on your next trip to a bigger city it could be your ticket to your next hidden adventure

With the app of the week.

The app is free in both the Google Play and Apple Markets. But this warning, when it's running it does put a drain on your battery.
