Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Innovative ideas for non-profits are getting a leg-up in funding from the Dakota Medical Foundation.
They announced the winners of the first-ever "Breakthrough Idea Challenge". Nine organizations received a total of $350,000 for ideas to improve health.
The Community Violence Intervention Center's "Stronger Together" project was awarded $50,000.
Kristi Hall-Jiran, Stronger Together: "We know how to solve a lot of these social issues, but we need to just get out there and be able to share our vision. So, to be able to have some basic seed money to get us started on building this momentum and building this vision and taking it statewide and maybe even farther than that, I think that's what this has allowed us to do."
Other winners included the Community Violence Intervention Center, YMCA of Cass Clay, and TNT Kid's Fitness.
