Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo woman is facing charges after a stabbing last night in South Fargo.

It happened around 9:30 on the 15-hundred block of 34th avenue. Police say the suspect was friends with the victim.

Someone passing the scene saw two women who looked like they were covered in blood. When police caught up with the victim, they found that she did have several stab wounds. The wounds on her torso and arms came from an edged weapon, possibly a knife.

Police arrested the other woman, 46-year-old Dawn Nystrom on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Nystrom and the victim appear to be friends and both were heavily intoxicated.

Lt. Joel Vettel, Fargo Police Department: "The majority, a vast majority of our assaults, alcohol is a factor. That's part of the issue as far as dealing with those types of crimes and the solution of dealing with those crimes."

The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital. Nystrom did not appear hurt.

The victim's injuries are not life-threatening.
