Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV)-- We begin with new information about Moorhead's involvement in the diversion.
It's moving forward with plans to help "fund" the design of the FM Diversion.
After the diversions cap neared the limit of 30 million dollars for design, it was requested the cap be lifted another 30 million. Because of a lack of funding in the state of Minnesota, the city was hesitant to go "all in."
After hours of deliberation, council members decided it is in the best interest of the community to stick with the plan for flood protection.
But the decision still left some unsure about where this money will come from.
Mark Altenburg- City of Moorhead: "we're playing poker with other people's money. And we don't, I haven't heard anything from the governor in months. I haven't heard anything from speaker Thissen. I haven't head anything from majority leader Bakk. On, that they understand that we are playing with their money tonight."
The keep the FM diversion rolling, funding must be matched by the federal government to build the system.
