Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - If you're one of those that's been complaining about the heat lately, just remember those cold blustery nights walking up to Ralph Engelstad Arena. The funny thing is, the UND hockey team probably can't wait for that time of year again.

They've had some practices recently as the team warms up for its first season in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Every practice is important with the team trying to replace three of its top four scorers from a year ago. And believe it or not, official practice starts in just a couple of months.

Dave Hakstol, UND Head Coach: “The reality of it is here. It's exciting with a lot of the great things to come in the NCHC. It's going to be highly competitive and I think we're aware of that. That's probably the first thing that comes to mind for me is the high level of competitiveness that we're going to face on a nightly basis. It's going to be exciting to be part of something new, building something new. Obviously, the inaugural season is just around the corner.”
