Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The people of North Dakota really enjoy their beer. This according to a recent study from the Beer Institute.

The study found more beer was shipped per capita to North Dakota last year than to any other state. 46 gallons of beer were shipped to the state for every person of legal drinking age last year.

That is equal to about 82-six packs per person. One liquor retailer says it reflects North Dakotans' love for beer.

Mark Kaiser, with Rite Spot Liquor Store Inc. says, "We are, especially in Grand Forks and Fargo, we are college towns and a lot of students are beer drinkers, so that's, it's a little surprising because we're so small, but at the same time it's not."

South Dakota ranks fourth on the list and Minnesota 29th.
