Fargo man is in jail after a jealous assault

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A Fargo man is behind bars after an early morning assault. Police say fueled by alcohol and jealousy.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A Fargo man is behind bars after an early morning assault. Police say fueled by alcohol and jealousy.

Police say 29-year-old Jeffrey Higdem and his girlfriend had been at a bar. Then went to a party in the 14-hundred block of 10th street north around 4 this morning.

That's where police say Higdem thought a man was flirting with his girlfriend, and assaulted him.

The man was hit so hard he was knocked unconscious, and may have suffered a seizure.

When authorities arrived they also found Higdem punching his girlfriend.

LT. Joel Vettel- Fargo Police: "Anytime you have violence and also you add alcohol to that, perspective. There could be some tragic results where people decide that the way to solve their problems is through violence."

Higdem faces charges of aggravated and domestic assault and resisting arrest.
