FARGO – Police say a 29-year-old Fargo man was arrested early this morning on suspicion of assaulting a man he suspected of flirting with his girlfriend at a party.
The alleged victim was punched in the head six to 12 times and possibly suffered a seizure as a result, Lt. Joel Vettel said.
Vettel said police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of 10th Street North early today, where an officer saw a man punch a woman in the stomach and knock her down.
The man attempted to run away as the officer approached and then struggled with police when he was being arrested, said Vettel, who identified the suspect as Jeffrey Roy Higdem, 29.
Vettel said Higdem and his girlfriend were at a bar Monday night and went to a party at the north Fargo residence with people they met at the bar.
Vettel said police believe Higdem became angry with a man he thought was flirting with his girlfriend and assaulted the man.
Higdem is being held in the Cass County Jail pending formal charges.
