Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Ex-cops of the Fargo Police Department claim the environment at work is "toxic."

In the last year and a half, 15 officers have resigned from the department.

During exit interviews, many of the employees complained about the disciplinary process, a lack of leadership and poor communication skills.

Fargo's Chief of Police says the claims fall short on facts.

Keith Ternes- Fargo Police Chief: "If it's because there's a high standard, high expectations for performance, a high level of accountability, if that's what made them dissatisfied, that's not going to change."

The chief admits, the force does need to work on communication, and like any companies, it's not perfect.
