Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- State and local leaders are celebrating the completion of a 50 million dollar expansion project at West Fargo's Caterpillar plant.

A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony was held at the new Main Avenue addition.

The 225,000 square foot facility will house and produce parts for mainly mining equipment.

The products will help increase Caterpillar's global reach through shipping all over the world.

GOV Jack Dalrymple- (R) North Dakota: "This is advanced manufacturing. This is the long-term opportunity for so many people in our state. These are great jobs."

The site is sized to add about 250 jobs. But company leaders say product demand hasn't required that much new hiring so far.
