Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - One business got hit with the double whammy this week. Carpet cleaners are notoriously backed up at the end of summer months because so many people pick this time to move out of apartments.

You throw a three inch plus rainfall event in there this week and these guys are scrambling to keep up with business.

On the busiest week of the year, the crew with Steamatic is on the hardest job of the week.

Workers are lugging, heavy commercial sized equipment for half a block. You have to when the street to the home is torn out.

Once inside it's business as usual. Usual to this week, Steamatic is backed up with water logged basements. Since Wednesday morning’s rain they've been on some 70 calls.

Marcus Benoit, Owner/Mananger: "We're trying to service as many people as we can, get people back in their homes because everyday things sit wet the costs continue to escalate.”

This couldn't have come at a worse time, at the end of the month. These guys are jammed packed cleaning apartments at this time now they're trying to get to these water projects in between the scheduled apartment cleanings.

Benoit: "We have to continue to support the people who prescheduled and this goes on well above that where the extended hours come into play."

Owner Marcus Benoit had to hire extra help this week. The crew is working 16 hour days. And they can forget about the weekend off.

Running all of this equipment half a block is just salt on the wound at this point.

Steamatic still has more than a dozen homes to get to before being caught up.
