Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- It's no secret when we say, downtown Fargo is flourishing. And the Kilbourne Group wants to keep that trend rolling.
So, its offering its expertise to the Dome Authority, which is looking to build an exhibition space as soon as possible.
According to Doug Burgum, he says we're on the tipping point of our economy exploding more than it already has.
And he proposes building a multi-use convention center right in the middle of downtown.
Studies back Burgum's reasoning. Slides shown during the Dome Authority meeting prove more unique amenities are offered in the downtown area.
In comparison to the Fargo Dome, where the Authority was originally thinking about building.
Burgum also explained how nearly 72 acres of parking could be utilized to build more hotels, restaurants and retail without cost to the taxpayers.
Additional multi-use space would benefit the city, bring in more profit and people from around the world.
Doug Burgum-Kilbourne Group: "When cities make investments in things like a dome, or like a convention center, it acts as an economic catalyst. And right now our economy is tremendously strong. Both at the state level and the local level. But we're fortunate that we have an opportunity to reinvest and continue to make those economic infrastructure investments."
There weren't any concrete decision made tonight. But once the Dome Authority decides which direction they'll head.
95,000 dollars will be poured into research to find out where and what should be built to best suit the Valley.
If the project is approved, surveys and studies will begin immediately.
