Amazing recovery of a 10-year old Fargo boy

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- There is some incredible news coming from Houston, Texas tonight.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- There is some incredible news coming from Houston, Texas tonight.

It's part of the amazing recovery of a 10-year old Fargo boy, who just days ago, survived a life-saving lung transplant.

Jordan Peterson is at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

They say everything in Texas is big. They are not kidding. The weather, a hot humid Houston 98 degrees.

A sprawling medical complex, where inside Texas Children's tonight, 10-year old Jordan Peterson is going to sleep, celebrating one week with new lungs that not only gave him breath, but gave him life.

Jordan is already up and around, free of most tubes and monitors. In fact, doctors are so impressed with Jordan's progress here in Texas, there is talk he could be released yet this week.

It has been a long journey for Jordan. Battling cystic fibrosis, he needed the transplant to live. His friends at Oak Grove and the Fargo Moorhead community have rallied around him and the family.

Jordan endured three dry runs, transplants that appeared to be a go, then were called off at the last minute. For the next few days watch for Jordan's stories here on WDAY.

We will hear from him tomorrow as he gets ready to start this new chapter in his life. And you will meet the man, a world renowned transplant surgeon, who, after four other hospitals refused a set of lungs, chose to implant them in Jordan and save his life.
