Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The transient population is on the rise in Jamestown.

A bus route from Jamestown to Fargo and other bigger cities was canceled in April which is making the problem worse.

More people are heading to the area for work.

Transients would go to bigger cities to seek more resources and shelter, but are now unable to.

Jamestown doesn't have a shelter where people can stay overnight.

Brian Miller- Jamestown Police: "They'll hang out around town, sometimes cause problems, some panhandle asking for money, things like that, and the community frowns on that and they arent aloud to do that so it just makes it more difficult for us when they don't leave right away, so that transportation was very beneficial to the community and to us."

The Salvation Army helps out with food assistance.
