Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Turkeys have run amok in Fargo this year, so now they will be fair game for the city's urban bow-hunt.

The Fargo City Commission approved adding turkeys to the hunt at a meeting last night.

The in-town turkey population has steadily grown for several years.

The city, along with North Dakota Game and Fish, have tried other options to reduce the birds' presence.

Doug Leier- ND Game & Fish Biologist: "Last winter, one of the methods that we used was trapping and removing turkeys from the city limits of Fargo. Another tool, another method that can be utilized, is reducing the population specifically and directly through wildlife management and hunting."

Urban turkey season begins September 14th.
