Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Some of Backstrom's teammates were actually in town today, Charlie Coyle and Jason Zucker represented the Wild on the team's annual road tour stop in Moorhead.
They signed autographs and took pictures with local fans. Being in Spud country, it was hard to avoid the fact that veteran Matt Cullen still remains unsigned by the team and could become a free agent next month. Something his teammates don't want to see happen.
Charlie Coyle- 14 pts in 37 GP in 1st season: "He's awesome! Of course, we'd love to have him back, everyone would. He's a guy that might be up there in age, but he doesn't look like it. He's a heck of player and we really saw that from him this year when he was playing and not hurt."
Wes Walz- Former Wild Player - TV Analyst: "It's probably not going to be as plentiful as it has in the past, just simply because the cap number is coming down. But, you can't argue the experience that he brings to the Wild organization and the way he played. When he was in the lineup this year the Wild were a different team and it was evident when he got hurt there for a stretch."
Time is ticking for the Wild and Cullen,
NHL free agency begins on July 5th.
