Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- It seems a little crazy to be talking about hockey season on a day like today.

But, hey the Stanley Cup Finals are still going on and when we're talking about a heated rivalry like Minnesota and UND, exceptions can be made.

The rivalry has been put on hiatus with the two teams joining different conferences next season.

But according to UND Athletics Director Brian Faison, they're getting closer to an agreement with the Gophers.

Faison also says, Wisconsin will be back on the schedule too, but those dates aren't set.

It's all possible after UND dropped it's Sioux nickname and logo. So, all of those questions about whether UND and Minnesota will play again,

are slowly being answered.

Brian Faison- UND Athletics Director: "Oh, it will happen. Again, it's one of those things that I can't tell you when, but clearly with scheduling it becomes a bit of a problem down the road because of a limited number of non-conference games that we play as well as they play. Wisconsin is going to come back on board, I know that for a fact. I can't be date specific, because Dave and I haven't talked about that. But, I know that they're coming back on. And I think that he's had good conversations with Minnesota, so I think that'll get taken care of as well."
