Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Firefighters believe weather may be to blame for a house fire in South Fargo that caused significant damage.

It happened at 41-14 Timberline Drive around 11 Thursday night. No one was home at the time.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and thick flames coming from the back of the home.

It took crews about 35 minutes to put out the blaze. They ran into heat issues inside the house once they entered.

Chief Steve Dirksen- Fargo Fire Dept.: "The fire had broken through the roof and ordered an evacuation. We then hit the fire from the outside and knocked it down, released some of the heat. When the fire came through the roof and then crews were able to go in about 10 15 minutes later and start putting the fire out and getting after it."

There is smoke and water damage throughout the house. Estimates aren't known.
