A Middle River, MN, man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexual conduct with an East Grand Forks minor.
Darrin Roy Anderson, 36, will also be registered as a sex offender and will be on a lifetime supervised released after his sentence.
Anderson plead guilty earlier this year to traveling from Walhalla, ND, to East Grand Forks to have sex with a 13-year-old girl in exchange for $300.
Authorities say Anderson used a fictitious Facebook account to contact the girl. He then began texting the girl and offered to pay cash in exchange for sexual contact.
After Anderson traveled to East Grand Forks, it was reported to East Grand Forks police, who then interviewed the victim.
Through information provided by Facebook, police determined that Anderson had engaged in hundreds of private chats with local adolescent girls and attempted to sexually solicit them. The incidents occurred in August 2009.
The case was investigated by the East Grand Forks Police Department and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
