West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In 24 short days, a couple from Washington state will be traveling 48 states to raise awareness for Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Mark and Deb Mansell with the Lions club, which has been supporting this cause since 1939. Last year the couple raised more than $100,000. So far this year they've raised $10,000, a good start to their $35,000 goal. That will provide one dog to one person.

Mark Mansell, Traveling 48 States: “Lions club is the foundation of the Leader Dogs, and Lions around the country and around the world in fact raise over two million dollars a year for the Leader Dogs, so we are part of a team effort that's for sure.”

The organization has provided 14,500 dogs over the 75 years it's been in operation.
