Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo man is thanking police for a program designed specifically to track down stolen property.

It's called the ‘My Property’ program.

For about a year and a half it has allowed uses to register their most valuable items, upload pictures, and receive a specific serial number for each.

In this case, a man had his bike stolen, and officers were able to track it to a pawn shop, identify the suspect, and return the bike to the rightful owner.

Sgt. Jason Nelson, Fargo Police: “Anything that's unique, I mean, it has a serial number, or jewelry that's unique because you can upload photos of your earrings, rings, necklaces, things like that. Those are some of the most difficult things to return to the owner to be able to prove.”

People living in Fargo can sign up at MyProperty.CityOfFargo.com.
