Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It was a quiet Thursday night, 56 years ago today, when a deadly tornado struck Fargo.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It was a quiet Thursday night, 56 years ago today, when a deadly tornado struck Fargo.

The 1957 F-5 Tornado hit the north side of Fargo, where it destroyed homes and buildings. Ten people were killed by the storm, including six of the Munson children, who were between 1 and 16-years-old. Hundreds more were injured.

Golden Ridge was hard hit as homes and an elementary school were reduced to rubble. Altogether, about 1,500 homes were destroyed or damaged by the twister.
