Sen. Franken helping keep jobs filled

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Senator Al Franken is working to help businesses and education leaders throughout the state close the skills gap.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Senator Al Franken is working to help businesses and education leaders throughout the state close the skills gap.

He is working closely with the Workforce Investment Act to make sure jobs don't go unfilled because the lack of qualified workers. The Community College Career Fund will help create partnerships between two year colleges and businesses. This will help train two million Americans for jobs in high demand industries like health care, clean energy, and information technology.

Sen. Al Franken, (D) Minnesota: “About a third to a half of all manufacturers in the state of Minnesota have jobs they can't fill because they don't have workers with the right skills.”

Discussion on the bill should start next week.
