Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - City leaders say Fargo's City Hall is reaching the end of its lifespan. They're looking at plans for a new building.

The current building, built in the 1960s, is becoming overcrowded and difficult to maintain. The city built an addition to the building in 2006 but that didn't help with the failing heating and cooling system.

And Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker says a Band-Aid approach isn't going to cut it.

Dennis Walaker, Fargo Mayor: "It would be beneath the needs of what we feel for the public and we would like to build a building that's not Taj Mahal but something that everybody would be proud of."

The city is creating a public task force led by Bruce Furness to explore the need for a new building.
