WEST FARGO – Police have made an arrest in a recent assault at a liquor store here.
The West Fargo Police Department reported Wednesday that investigators identified suspect Jason Robert Nicholas, 32, of West Fargo, based on tips from the public.
Nicholas was arrested Wednesday for felony interference with an emergency phone call. Police said charges for assault will be sent to the Cass County States Attorney for review.
The police department last week released images from surveillance videos taken shortly after 7:30 p.m. on June 9 at LakeMode Liquors, 3330 Sheyenne St., and asked the public for help in identifying a suspect in a reported assault and possible robbery.
An employee told police that two unidentified women attempted to buy alcohol but could not produce identification, and left the store upset when they weren’t allowed to make a purchase.
A man allegedly came to the store shortly after that, angry that the women weren’t served, and grabbed the clerk from across the counter. The clerk said they tried to call 911 but were stopped by the suspect, who then assaulted them.
Investigators also believe store property was stolen in the incident before the man fled the scene.
