Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Hundreds are expected in downtown Fargo this Wednesday afternoon. The new Bishop for the Fargo Diocese will be ordained and installed in a special ceremony.

Fifty-one-year old John Folda of Nebraska will officially take over the Diocese after Bishop Samuel Aquila left for Denver.

Pope Francis named Folda "Bishop" in April, the first Bishop selected by Pope Francis.

Folda says he has been talking with Diocese staff and parishioners about life in this part of the Midwest and says it is similar to that of his last job in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bishop John Folda, Fargo Diocese: “It is a real dynamic diocese. There is a lot going on here: Parishes building churches, new parishes having been started so that is obviously an exciting thing.”

The Mass of Ordination starts at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary's downtown. Tickets are required.
