BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's top oil regulator says drillers faced unusually bad weather this spring.

Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says in a statement that oil operators couldn't "catch a break" in April and May. He says April had the coldest temperatures on record and May was the wettest on record.

Despite the dicey weather, drillers still produced a record 793,000 barrels daily in April. May numbers have not been tallied.
