Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- After next week's mini-camp, the Vikings won't be back together, until they meet in Mankato for Training Camp.

One of the players that probably can't wait until then is Tight End John Carlson.

Last year's homecoming for the Litchfield native didn't go so well.

After signing a 5-year, 25 million dollar contract, he battled injuries and managed just 8 catches. But, he believes that he can still be an impact Tight End in the NFL.

John Carlson- Minnesota Vikings Tight End: "I'm putting last year behind me. It was disappointing in many ways. Injuries kind of held me back a little bit. They kept me off the practice field, which prevented me from earning a role in the offense. This year has been good so far. I've been out here for all of these OTAs. It's been encouraging to see the progress that I think we've made."

Carlson averaged 45 catches a year in his first 3 seasons in Seattle.
