Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Biking, boating and a scavenger hunt are all part of a first of its kind race in Grand Forks.

Extreme North Dakota sponsored the competition, which included about 15 miles of biking the Greenway, followed by a few hours of boating in the Red River. Speed isn't a factor. Points are earned by stopping at checkpoints along the way.

Organizers say it's not about winning, but for exploring the Red River Valley.

Race organizer, Dexter Perkins, says, "People aren't really competing with each other. They're competing with themselves maybe. but mostly they're coming out to enjoy a really good day and have an adventure. That's what this is about. Everybody knows how to ride a bike, and everybody knows how to peddle a boat. We just put it all together in one event."

Proceeds raised benefit the Grand Forks boathouse project.
