Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In order to meet the growing demand from veterans, the Fargo VA is adding staff.
This stems from President Obama's executive order a year ago to improve veterans' access to mental health care. In Fargo, that will mean an additional 12 new mental health professionals.
The VA is also expanding the use of new technology to serve vets in rural and under-served areas.
Breton Weintraub, Fargo Fargo VA-Acting Chief of Staff: “Our treatments have expanded in many areas PTSD is one of them. TBI traumatic injury has an emotional component so our psych staff assists with that.”
Since May, the VA has hired 1,600 mental health clinicians.
