Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Road Construction is everywhere in the metro. And smack dab in the middle of it, is a huge "remodel" to Moorhead's sidewalks.
It's part of a MN-DOT plan to improve pedestrian accessibility in the city. From 40th avenue south to Center Avenue in Moorhead.
Dozens of sidewalks will be updated to make it easier for wheel-chair or scooter access.
At other intersections, there are audible traffic signals going in to help the blind.
And, mini "rumble strips" added to the sidewalks for safety. Some, with wheelchair access, needed an upgrade.
Jesse Miller- ND-DOT Detroit Lakes: "They were accessible but the slopes, if you were in a wheelchair visually impaired they were sloped greater than we liked so we are just improving those areas."
