Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- An accident in West Fargo is a reminder for drivers to look for bicyclists, and for bicyclists to wear a helmet.
It happened around 10:30 this morning in the 11-hundred block of 46th Avenue West.
Police say a 5-year-old boy was riding his bike without a helmet, and pulled out to cross an intersection in front of a car.
The driver did not have enough time to stop before hitting him.
Authorities say the boy was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.
LT. Duane Sall- West Fargo Police: "Bike safety is so important. It's so important to wear a helmet. It could prevent serious injuries, obviously teaching kids to look both ways before going into an intersection. And you know, only 5 years old, really need to train him and teach him what to do and stop at every intersection."
Police say the accident is under investigation, and say the speed of the driver was not a factor.
