Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A Fargo cardiologist who has helped save hundreds of lives is hanging up his white coat.
Dr. Wally Radtke has been leaving his mark on patients at Sanford for the last 37 years, first beginning back in 1976.
And today, family, friends, patients and coworkers all gathered to give him a final goodbye.
Radtke says the decision to retire has been a hard one... But says he will always remember Sanford's teamwork atmosphere... And appreciates the time he's been able to see the world of medicine grow and develop.
Dr. Wallace Radtke- Sanford Cardiologist: "Oh I mean they've just changed remarkably. There was a time when patients came in with heart attacks, we were just trying to keep them alive, now we act quickly, open up their arteries, and they're back home in a day or two."
Radtke says he's not sure exactly what lies ahead, but knows it will include a lot of traveling.
