Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - Former NHL stars flooded the rink in Detroit Lakes for a special exhibition game.

It's all in effort to use hockey to help wounded veterans return to civilian life. The Minnesota Warriors also hit the ice for the game hoping to raise money for the program and gain exposure for the team.

Zach Lamppa, Ex-Hockey Player: "It's a great cause with the veterans. It just goes to show that you don't need to be in the NHL to enjoy hockey and you don't need to be a veteran to appreciate what these guys have done for our country."

This is the first event of its kind in Detroit Lakes, and coordinators say they'd like to try it again.
