Valley City, ND (WDAY TV) - The sound of wheels whizzing down Central Avenue in Valley City signaled the start of the annual Soap Box Derby.

Drivers from age 7 to 18 competed for a spot at the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio.

For four of the racers today, it runs in the family. Josiah, Eryn, Bethany, and Eden Crump from Valley City are siblings that have raced against each other for years.

"I just got hooked and then all three of them got hooked, too."

"My dad got me interested in it and then we just kept doing it and we love it."

"It's just fun, going down the hill and hanging out."

Their father, Scott Crump, is the Sheyenne Valley Soap Box club president.
