WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — The Highway Patrol says the driver of a Hummer died in a fiery crash early Saturday morning in McKenzie County.

Troopers say the Hummer crashed in to the rear of a semitrailer that was backing up after its driver had missed a turn on U.S. Highway 85. The crash happened about 1:30 a.m., about 35 miles south of Watford City.

The patrol says a fire ignited after the crash, consuming the Hummer and damaging the tractor-trailer.

The victim's name has not been released. The body was sent to Grand Forks for autopsy and identification.

Troopers say the driver of the semitrailer was not hurt.
