WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Water restrictions have been lifted in some western North Dakota cities.
The restrictions affected Williston, Watford City, Trenton and rural water systems in Williams and McKenzie counties. The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/17xi3TL ) that mandatory water restrictions were lifted Friday in Williston and Watford city with the clearing of the muddy water caused by heavy rains in the Missouri River drainage.
The communities are served by water treated at the Williston treatment plant, which draws from the Missouri River.
The problem was due to recent heavy rainfall in eastern Montana and western North Dakota that stirred up sediment in the Missouri River, from which the plant draws water.
