BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's five community foundations are coming together to promote charitable donations and new tax credits for contributors.
NDgives aims to promote a new state law that allows for generous tax credits for individuals and businesses who give specific types of gifts to North Dakota charities.
The credit may be extended for three additional tax years if it cannot be used in one year.
The five groups are the North Dakota Community Foundation, Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, Devils Lake Area Foundation, Minot Area Community Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, Minn.
The Fargo Moorhead Area Foundation's Tim Beaton says that North Dakota is one of few states offering a tax incentive for philanthropy, but few are aware of it.
