Judge denies polygraph results at North Dakota drug trial

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A judge won't allow results from polygraph tests in the trial of the owner, manager and eight employees of a Bismarck skate shop who are accused of selling illegal synthetic drugs.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A judge won't allow results from polygraph tests in the trial of the owner, manager and eight employees of a Bismarck skate shop who are accused of selling illegal synthetic drugs.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that Surrogate Judge Benny Graff last week denied a motion from the defense in case.

Defense attorneys wrote in court papers that the 10 defendants passed tests in which they said they did not know the substances sold at Discontent were illegal. They wanted the results to be admitted at trial, which has not been scheduled.

Assistant Attorney General Julie Lawyer argued the results should not be admitted.

In his ruling, Judge Graff says the scientific community remains split on the reliability of polygraph examinations.
