Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you have heard sirens going off throughout the past few days, it's not because of storms.
The City of Fargo has been doing its annual spring maintenance checks since Monday. Testing the 28 sirens across the city is usually done earlier, but rainy weather pushed it back.
The tests make sure the city is prepared in case of severe spring storms.
Leon Schlafmann, Emergency Services Coordinator: "Normal problems that they find are usually going to be batteries that need to be replaced, which can cause a malfunction on a siren; usually a switch or two. Other than that, they usually don't find too many problems."
West Fargo completed spring testing on its 10 sirens in May.
