Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A cold, wet day put a damper on the opener of Happy Harry's Ribfest. But despite the cool weather, long lines of barbeque-lovers showed up today.
This isn't the first time event organizers have dealt with less-than-stellar weather. Last year was hot and sunny, but the beginning of June is typically the rainy season.
So, they say they are been prepared to handle whatever mother-nature throws our way.
The rain held off throughout the afternoon on this first day, giving rib-lovers a chance to enjoy their lunch. Rain jackets and umbrellas replaced shorts and sandals.
John Pederson, Fargo Resident: "I think that people around here are pretty hearty. So, a little cold weather isn't going to keep them away from barbeque."
Megan Leininger, Fargo Resident: "There were a ton more people here last year. I think it's one of those things that only comes around once a year, so rain or shine people want to come and eat the food."
