Grand Forks city council debates recycling options

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The Grand Forks city council looked at two plans for improving its recycling program and decided to curb its enthusiasm, for now.

Council members at Monday's meeting put off a decision on deciding between two options for upgrading the curbside recycling program.

The question is how much citizens will be willing to pay for the improvements. The most expensive option would require the city to pay more than $700,000 for new 90-gallon containers.

Some council members say they need more information from the waste management company.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that the council voted 4-3 to postpone the awarding of a contract until its next meeting.
