Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A clean-up campaign aimed at picking up garage littering the oil fields, is turning out to be a success.

The North Dakota Petroleum Council says its so-called Pick Up the Patch campaign is netting tons of trash.

The group says more than 700 volunteers have helped pick up more than 1,500 bags of trash and cleaned 30 miles of roadways in western North Dakota over the past six weeks.

The campaign was organized last year amid complaints of the growing trash problem spurred by the state's oil boom.
