Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you're thinking about planting a garden and need a little help to get started, it's as simple as the click of a mouse.

When it finally stops raining you can get from planting through harvest in a snap because there's an app for that.

When is the best time to plant? What fruits and vegetables work best in your soil? Or in your climate and how do you care for them?

You can get all those answers and more in a new web-based app from Miracle-Gro called "Sprout It".

To use it you simply type in your zip code and it does the work from there. It gives you a list of common vegetables and herbs that work in our area. They are planning to list up to 60 plants by summer.

It tells you when to get your seeds in the ground, the best soil and spacing, which plants work well next to each other, how much water and sun they need to grow and then when it's time to pick.

Through the process Sprout It helps you keep track of everything in your garden and then creates your own personal growth plan. It keeps detailed information on your garden and even a check-list tailored to each plant on what you need to do and when.

From beginning planters to experienced green thumbs, Sprout It keeps you on top of your garden and can guide you to a bountiful harvest this fall.

Right now the app is only web-based but iPhone and iPad apps are scheduled to come out in the next couple months.
