(WDAY TV) -- Things couldn't have started much worse so far this year for the F-M RedHawks; a 2-8 record to begin 2013; having just been swept at home by Laredo; dropping their record to 0-7 against the Lemurs.

Opening a new series tonight against Sioux Falls; on this holiday.

Great camouflage look for the home team. They might want to wear those more often, they played like a completely different team. Starter Alex Caldera with a terrific catch on the come-backer, Caldera gave up only 2 hits in 6 shutout innings.

Momentum rubbed off on the hitters, in the 4th, Todd Jennings doubles down the left-field line, 1 of 3 hits for Jennings, Jose Garcia scores for a 3-0 lead.

And this kid loves it. Next man up, Zach Penprase back in the lineup

after missing the weekend series for a wedding, he singles in Jennings to make it 4-0.

The highlight of the night comes in the 5th, Keith Brachold hits a 2-run home run off the poker chip in right field. Fist pumps all around. The Hawks win it, 8-2.

Doug Simunic, RedHawks Manager, says, "We played with a little urgency. We played with the idea that we had to come here and play, and win this game.

We showed that today."

Zach Penprase, RedHawks Shortstop, says, "We just can't take it for granted. We have to keep stepping our game up and always be wanting to come out here and shove it down the other team's throat and just play RedHawks baseball. We're a winning team, we've been a winning franchise forever. We just can't take it for granted. Winning one game at home against Sioux Falls, we just have to keep rolling with it."
