MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Constant rain over several days last week put North Dakota farmers even further behind schedule in planting crops.

Grant Buck, executive director of the Farm Service Agency in Ward County, tells the Minot Daily News (http://bit.ly/10yP76n ) that spring planting has been going pretty slow in the area. He says a late snow melt kept farmers out of their fields until May 10, and rain last week again held up planting.

Buck says spring wheat planting statewide is only 50 percent complete, compared with 98 percent at this time last year.
