Medal of Honor recipient to speak at North Dakota event

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Recent Medal of Honor recipient and North Dakota resident Clinton Romesha is slated to give the keynote address at a Memorial Day ceremony Monday in at the Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Recent Medal of Honor recipient and North Dakota resident Clinton Romesha is slated to give the keynote address at a Memorial Day ceremony Monday in at the Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan.

Romesha was awarded the nation's highest military decoration in February for valor from President Obama for his actions during a 13-hour firefight in Afghanistan.

Romesha left the Army in 2011 after nearly 12 years of service. He lives in in Minot with his wife and three children.

Other speakers at the Memorial Day event include Gov. Jack Dalrymple. Sen. John Hoeven, Rep. Kevin Cramer and Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, the adjutant general for the North Dakota National Guard.
